May has started off with Summer weather.
Canoeing, kayaking activities have begun.
Fishing seasons are opening. Now that the ice
is off the Ontario lakes, the fish are still close
to the surface. No need for special equipment.
Moose sightings are the norm in Algonquin park in
May. Many seasonal resorts and lodges are opening up
for Spring and Summer guests. April has arrived but Winter weather is
holding on. The snow is melting and the ice on
the lakes is melting too. As soon as the ice is
gone, the fishing begins. With the water being so
cold, the fish are found close to the surface. No
special equipment is required to catch a BIG one! The Easter long weekend is upon us and
there still is snow to the north. In Muskoka
the snowmobile trails are still open and the ice
fishing huts don't come off the lakes until March
31. You can snow ski or snow shoe on the trails one
last time. With the weather forecast
predicting warmer weather, the snow will not last
much longer. March Break is about to come to an end.
There is still great snow conditions north of
Barrie. However, the ice huts have to come off
the lakes soon and the spring thaw is about to
happen. By mid April there will be lakes that have
lost their ice so that the fishermen and women with
motor boats will come out of storage. The
Spring fishing season will begin for Trout, and
later on for walleye and pickerel. Great winter snow conditions have finally
come to Ontario. The snowmobile trails are open. The
ski hills and resorts are boasting the best
conditions in many seasons. The temperatures are
warming up so it's fun to play outside in the snow!
The family weekend will be a great time to have some
fun or consider a romantic getaway. Celebrate
Valentine's day with your special someone at an
Ontario lodge, inn or resort.
The Winter activities are starting up.
Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating on the lake. Dog
sledding and snowshoeing are available over the
holidays. Soon the snowmobile trails will open
for the 2013 season in Ontario.
There has been a little bit of snow in the
north but not enough to stay on the ground yet.
Deer can be seen, especially in the early morning
and at night crossing the road. Drive with
special care.
Wildlife viewing is very popular at this
time of year. The leaves have fallen from the trees
making it easier to see moose or deer in the forest.
Moose can be seen in Algonquin Park not far from HWY
60. Many Ontario resorts are open year round to
enable tourists to enjoy all the seasons in comfort.
Spring has come early to Ontario. Excellent
opportunities for fishing, nature watching for
moose, deer and migrating birds.
Ontario Ski resorts at Blue Mountain,
Hidden Valley, Snow Valley and Horseshoe Valley have
made enough snow to start operations for the
2011/2012 season. Limited conditions are being
offered for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
Snow has come and gone but will soon stay
for the Winter. Ski hills will be making snow
in time for Christmas holidays.
